This red Crozes-Hermitage comes straight from Domaine Eymin-Tichoux, a wine estate where traditional, manual work is the very essence of the house's philosophy.

For Sophie and Kevin, their work is carried out with respect for the terroir, which allows them to enhance the value of their wines. Eventually, the entire estate will be certified organic, which is already a daily practice.
Soil work is very often done with the help of a horse when the topography of the plot allows it.
The Crozes-Hermitage appellation is the largest of the Northern Rhône Valley appellations. It uses the leading grape varieties of this region: Syrah for the reds and Marsanne and/or Roussanne for the whites. It brings together many winegrowers often present in other quality terroirs such as Saint-Joseph or Cornas.
The plot for this vintage is located on the left bank of the Rhône, north of Valence, on a stony plain. It benefits from a southern, southwest exposure, an ideal orientation for the quality and maturity of the grapes.

This Crozes-Hermitage is aged for 12 months in barrels, 20% of which are new wood, to give it structure and a good aging life (5 to 8 years).

In the spirit of Gilles ROBIN's Crozes-Hermitage, like the Albérique vintage, we obtain a Crozes-Hermitage that is both complex and powerful.
This wine will pair perfectly with a porcini mushroom omelet or even a lamb stew.

DOMAIN

Starting from scratch and creating their own estate. This is what Sophie Eymin and Kévin Tichoux have just achieved. After studying viticulture and oenology, they worked in various estates in France and abroad to acquire different working methods. They then returned to France and settled in Seyssuel in Isère in 2015. That same year, the couple planted their first vines on a plot spread across both banks of the Rhône. On the right bank, characterized by steep slopes and granite soils, the Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu cuvées are produced. On the other side of the Rhône, on hillsides of schist, quartz, and granite, the couple produces Arène, Avant-Première, IGP Collines Rhodaniennes Seyssuel cuvées, as well as two other cuvées, Cap Syrah and Crozes-Hermitage.

The four hectares of vines are managed organically. "We've always worked organically, and we're going to obtain our certification for the 2021 vintage," says Sophie Eymin. Faced with the sometimes very steep slopes, horses are used for tilling the soil. "We're in our vineyards most of the time," says the winegrower. "It's the grapes that do everything; it's essential to have good grapes to make a good wine."

At Domaine Eymin-Tichoux, grapes from the four hectares of vines are vinified on-site in Seyssuel. Upon arrival at the winery, the bunches are sorted and then destemmed or not, depending on the vintage. These bunches are then pressed or placed directly in stainless steel vats for alcoholic fermentation. "Depending on the vintage and the cuvées, the wines are then aged in barrels previously used for one or more wines, or in demi-muids, or even truncated barrels," says Sophie Eymin.

To further their environmentally friendly approach, the couple uses unprinted recycled cardboard, which they stamp themselves with their wine, as well as paper tape. They now want to share this whole world with the general public by offering tours of the vineyards.
