Patrick Meyer took over the family estate in 1982 and quickly turned to organic farming, banning the use of synthetic treatments in 1993 and reducing sulfur to the strict minimum. Its wines received the biodynamic label in 1999. Various terroirs extend into the village of Nothalten at the foot of the Vosges. In Heinsenberg, Heisenstein, Zelberg and Grittermatte, the soils are a mixture of gneiss, clay, shale and sand.
