THE ESTATE: The Rieffel estate, located in Mittelbergheim, in the heart of Alsace, is a true gem where winemaking tradition meets modern practices. Founded at the beginning of the 20th century by Léon Rieffel, it has been shaped over the generations by a passionate family, who have passed on their expertise while adapting to changes in the wine world. Today, Julie and Thierry Rieffel, at the helm of the estate, perpetuate this heritage with a deep respect for their terroir and a desire to produce exceptional wines. Under their leadership, the estate has chosen to favor biodynamic viticulture, respectful of the environment and biodiversity, while emphasizing the quality and uniqueness of the wines produced. The vines, cultivated on clay-limestone soils, receive special attention, with each plot being managed to bring out the best of Alsatian grape varieties, such as Riesling, Gewurztraminer, and Pinot Gris. The grapes are harvested by hand to ensure a meticulous selection of the finest fruit. Vinification, carried out in the cellar using gentle, traditional methods, highlights the purity of the terroir. Stainless steel vats and wooden casks allow for natural fermentation, without excessive intervention, so that each vintage fully expresses its unique character.
