The Côtes du Rhône 'La Muse Papilles' comes from vines managed by Justine, one of the daughters of Eric and Christine Saurel. This red wine vintage takes its name from its delicious and crunchy character on small red fruits. Planted on scrubland soils and sand and sandstone subsoil, the vines with 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah are on average 25 years old. As with all the wines from the Montirius estate, the harvest is manual and the vinification traditional. Aging lasts one winter in cement vats (the wine is 100% unoaked). The result is a delicious red wine, easy to drink and delicious. The aromatic bouquet offers aromas of cherry, strawberry and raspberry. On the palate, the finish of the wine is quite long with fruit clearly present on the palate. The Muse Papilles de Montirius will keep for up to 5-6 years, for tasting with aperitifs and/or Mediterranean cuisine. DOMAIN

Montirius, a 58 hectare estate has been converted to organic dynamism since 1996, in the AOC Vacqueyras, AOC Gigondas and AOC Côtes du Rhône appellations. Since 1999, all the wines have been made from grapes grown organically and biodynamically, with the Domaine becoming the first vineyard certified in Biodynamic farming in the Vacqueyras and Gigondas appellations. Montirius is thus located in the heart of the Dentelles de Montmirail, under the gaze of Mont Ventoux. If you are lucky enough to go to Montirius, you will notice that the place exudes an air of sweet southern tranquility.

Montirius is the contraction of the first names of the 3 children of Christine & Eric Saurel: MON (Manon) + TI (Justine) + RIUS (Marius). It has been a family estate for 5 generations, located in the south of the Rhône Valley in the AOC Vacqueyras Gigondas appellations. In 1980, Max Saurel, Eric's father, stopped using chemical fertilizers, already sensing their negative effects on soil and people. Eric, who has been working on the estate for 26 years, is constantly seeking the right balance to obtain great local wines. He converted the estate to Bio-Dynamic cultivation in 1996 before building his new cellar in 2002.
