Burgundy Aligoté 2021 White - Remi Jobard
Beautiful acidity and minerality with notes of citrus, grapefruit and apple. A vibrant, tense wine with lovely freshness and light vanilla notes on the finish.
In 1991, Rémi Jobard took over the family estate. The vineyard covers 2 hectares of red Burgundy and 7 of white Burgundy on soil composed of clay and limestone. The vineyard extends over three Premiers Crus : Charmes, Poruzots, Genevrières and also Meursaults in the places called Les Narvaux and Les Chevalières . The whites from these plots also reach the level of certain Premiers Crus!
Pinot noir is planted in the Monthélie appellation and in the Premier Cru Volnay-Santenots. The estate's production represents 50,000 bottles. The wines are produced in limited quantities but are sought after for their remarkable expression.
Passionate, the winemaker decides to shake up the practices of the estate. He does everything possible to produce pure, precise wines, in harmony with nature and the terroir.
He therefore imposes itself on the estate and decides to change the way of exploiting the vineyard. As a true lover of the land, he began the complete conversion of land to organic farming . He made the decision in 1998 to stop the use of weedkillers and other chemical treatments. The limestone hillsides on which the vines are planted allow their typicalities to speak more clearly. The estate began producing organically in 2005 and obtained its certification in 2011.
The winegrower can also count on a loyal team of harvesters who return every year. The entire harvest of the 9 hectares of vines is manual. The workforce is therefore experienced and does not hesitate to sort the best bunches as soon as they are picked. The soil is also preserved compared to the passage of a vine harvesting machine.
Respect for the land, heritage and people are therefore at the center of the philosophy of Domaine Rémi Jobard.
Beyond organic farming, Rémi Jobard lets winemaking take its course. He practices as few interventions as possible. This allows him to obtain very pure, frank and precise wines.
Aging takes place in Stockinger demi-muids. Large containers which give a very nice structure to the wines without marking them too much with wood. Bottling is done by the estate, after 18 months of aging. No filtration is carried out in order to keep the character of the wines intact.
The reputation of Rémi Jobard 's vintages is well established. The vintages are recognized for their finesse, their amplitude but also their remarkable freshness. We particularly appreciate the ability of the bottles to age.
With Rémi Jobard, it's better not to stop only at the label. In terms of appellation, all the vintages deserve to be upgraded. Indeed, even the tasting of village or generic appellations reserves wonderful surprises. An estate with anonymous production but which deserves to be tasted: all the wines are of remarkable quality!
