The “Sansoufrir” vintages are the perfect reflection of the estate’s philosophy in place for more than 20 years. This purple-colored wine expresses itself with very pretty notes of red fruits and black fruits. On the palate, its tannins are supple.
Domaine de la Gerbelle comes from an old farm belonging to the Carthusian order. During the separation of Church and State in 1905, our great-grandfather, a farmer, bought the estate from the Carthusian Fathers at an auction in Chignin. He developed mixed farming and livestock there and planted a few vines. In the 1960s, the estate specialized in viticulture under the leadership of Claude Quenard. In the 2000s, André and Guy, sons of Claude, decided to convert the estate to organic farming. Today, the new generation is arriving at the estate and you have already put their personal touch with the launch of a craft brewery activity, also organic. Recently, wine tourism activity has been developing there with guest rooms and tables d'hôte in the old Chartreux farm.
One of the pioneers of organic in Savoie, the Domaine has been certified since 2000. It now has three partners and a permanent employee. Our definition of the winegrower profession is embodied in the way we work at the estate on a daily basis: we carry out all the tasks, from biodynamic vine cultivation (we have been DEMETER certified since the 2016 vintage) to marketing and more. through vinification (there is no oenologist outside the estate) and of course bottling by us.
