The palate is silky with notes of cherries, redcurrants, blackberries and supported by a beautiful freshness on the finish and a perfectly controlled structure.

DOMAIN

Of Scottish origin, May's family settled in France in the Middle Ages, and as a reward for their courage, was offered the Fief of Certan by the King of France. One of the very first vineyards in Pomerol, the château was managed by the De May family until 1925 when it was acquired by the Barreau family.

Located on the upper part of the Pomerol plateau and enjoying a south-east exposure, Château Certan de May is surrounded by illustrious neighbors such as Vieux Château Certan and Château La Fleur-Pétrus.

The wine owes its great complexity to the clayey and gravelly soils on which the vines with an average age of 35 years are planted: the clay brings power and the gravel brings elegance. The balance of Château Certan de May wines illustrates the unique complementarity of these terroirs.

The vineyard, perfectly managed by the Barreau family and vinified with the help of Michel Rolland until 2012, then of Jean-Claude Berrouet since the 2013 vintage, is recognized worldwide.

The wines, deep and muscular, typical of the great Pomerols, can be appreciated after a few years of aging, but their structure gives them great aging potential.
