Deep ruby red color, this wine has a range of intense fruity and spicy aromas with notes of undergrowth and white pepper. A fully flavorful vintage with a lovely persistence on the palate!
Andrea Franchetti, son of an American mother and an Italian father, grew up in Rome in an environment privileged by artists, including his uncle Cy Twombly, is one of the most interesting Italian producers. After owning restaurants, he dedicated himself to the distribution of great Italian wines and, in the 1990s, launched definitively into the world of wine production.
In 2000, during a visit to Sicily, he was struck by the vineyards which “climb” on the slopes of Etna, more than 1000 meters above sea level, and was immediately seized by the desire to give life to a new project: after restoring an old baglio with a cellar he opened the Passopisciaro cellar, recovering the old Nerello Mascalese vineyards and planting new non-native varieties such as Petit Verdot, Cesanese di Affile and Chardonnay. Along with a handful of other pioneers, he contributed to the enological renaissance of the Etna area.
