This Montirius red wine comes from old vines over 60 years old in the south of the Rhône valley. They are located on the banks of the Ouvèze river in Sarrians. Little brother of the great Montirius appellations (Vacqueyras Gigondas and Côtes du Rhône), it therefore bears the name “Le Cadet”. The 7 hectare estate plot has 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah grape varieties, with a limited yield of 30hl/ha. This purple-colored Montirius local wine in IGP is very fresh, fruity and spicy. Its beautiful structure will pair wonderfully with a family dish from Sunday cooking.

DOMAIN
Montirius, a 58 hectare estate has been converted to organic dynamism since 1996, in the AOC Vacqueyras, AOC Gigondas and AOC Côtes du Rhône appellations. Since 1999, all the wines have been made from grapes grown organically and biodynamically, with the Domaine becoming the first vineyard certified in Biodynamics in the Vacqueyras and Gigondas appellations. Montirius is thus located in the heart of the Dentelles de Montmirail, under the gaze of Mont Ventoux. If you are lucky enough to go to Montirius, you will notice that the place exudes an air of sweet southern tranquility.
Montirius is the contraction of the first names of the 3 children of Christine & Eric Saurel: MON (Manon) + TI (Justine) + RIUS (Marius). It has been a family estate for 5 generations, located in the south of the Rhône Valley in the AOC Vacqueyras Gigondas appellations. In 1980, Max Saurel, Eric's father, stopped using chemical fertilizers, already sensing their negative effects on soil and people. Eric, who has been working on the estate for 26 years, is constantly seeking the right balance to obtain great local wines. He converted the estate to Bio-Dynamic cultivation in 1996 before building his new cellar in 2002.
