Located in the heel of the Italian boot, the Puglia vineyard enjoys an ideal location in the heart of the Mediterranean. Puglia's flagship grape variety, primitivo, called Zinfandel in California, grows in the Salento region, a peninsula surrounded by the Adriatic and Lonian Seas. The Il Pumo vintage expresses, at an altitude of 100 m, all the personality of the primitivo and its organoleptic originality: sweet spices, stewed black fruits. The palate offers delicate fruitiness and balsamic notes. A concentrated and balanced wine in essence.
Founded in 1962, Cantine San Marzano is the work of 19 local winegrowers in the Salento region. Under the direction of Francesco Cavallo since 1982, he developed the wine offering and brought together new winegrowers. Today, it is a cooperative which has 1,200 wine growers and which covers 1,500 hectares of vines. Over time, La Cantine has become one of the most popular and respected cellars in Puglia for the quality of its wines and the work accomplished over 50 years.
