Having become an essential reference in Pauillac, Château Pédésclaux is the result of a careful blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (55%), Merlot (40%) and Cabernet Franc (5%). The approximately 42ha of vines grow on an exceptional terroir of Garonne gravel, itself resting on a deep limestone base.
After being harvested by hand, the grapes are sorted in the cellar then vatted by gravity. Vinification begins with cold maceration intended to transmit additional aromas and intensity to the wine. Aging for 16 months follows in barrels, 60% of which are new.
Pédésclaux develops a nose of black fruits and spices. The mouth is full, and the tannins are polished. It presents a generous and harmonious whole which will only become more beautiful over the years.

DOMAIN

This Médoc property was founded in 1810, under the leadership of Pierre-Urbain Pédesclaux, then a wine broker. The years passed and some changes occurred: vines were bought from Mr. Lacoste (owner of the Pauillac Château Grand Puy) in 1921, a winery was built in 1841 and the vineyard now covers more than 7 hectares. Changing owners (the son Edmond now manages it with a master hand), its success is not long in coming: here it is crowned fifth grand cru in the 1855 Classification. Unfortunately, it is clear that the castle lasts throughout the 20th century. in complete anonymity. It was not until the purchase of the wine in 2009 by Jacky Lorenzetti (founder of Foncia and 50% co-owner of Château d'Issan with Emmanuel Cruse) that Château Pédesclaux reconnected with its prestigious history. Thanks to him, the vineyard reached 48 hectares and, after an overhaul of all the installations and the construction of a cellar designed by the architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, the castle produced fine and elegant wines. So here is a Pauillac to follow closely, very closely.
