Intensely aromatic notes of crushed white pepper, spices and red strawberries and nectarine with mineral accents. Incredibly ripe and fresh, but with an emerging dustiness providing a nice counterpoint on the aftertaste. It's full of raspberries, bitter cherries, orange peel, lavender, almonds and star anise.

DOMAIN

Domaine du Gour de Chaulé, located in the heart of the village of Gigondas, was founded in 1871 by Eugène Bonfils, the great-grandfather of the current owner, Stéphanie Fumoso. All wine produced at the estate was sold in bulk to négociants until 1970, when Stéphanie's grandmother began bottling a small percentage of the estate's wine to sell to private clients. Stéphanie's mother, Aline Bonfils, became head of the estate in the early 1980s and it was under Aline's leadership that the tradition of bottling at the estate developed considerably.

The estate includes 10 hectares (divided into 23 plots) in Gigondas and a small farm in Vacqueyras. Aline Bonfils firmly believes in Grenache as the heart and soul of Gigondas and she passed this philosophy on to her daughter Stéphanie, who became a winemaker in 2007. 85% of the vines are planted in Grenache, of which around 10% are dedicated to Syrah and Mourvèdre. , and the balance planted in Cinsault. The family has always believed that minimal intervention in the vines and in the cellar is the key to preserving the essential character of the wines. The vineyards are grown organically and a minimal amount of sulfur is used in the winery.
