With an average annual production of 5,000 bottles, the Minéral cuvée is as confidential as it is sublime. This Vacqueyras is born from the assembly of thirty-year-old vines mainly from Bourboulenc (50%). Two white grape varieties complete Minéral: Roussanne (25%) and Grenache Blanc (25%). The grapes will have previously grown on ancient soils of Mindel (scrubland soil), blue clayey marls which rest on yellow sands and sandstones of the Helvetian. Traditional vinification follows skin maceration and direct pressing. The white wine is aged in bottle, 100% unoaked like all Domaine Montirius wines. The majority Bourboulenc wine with this grape variety gives good and intense aromas of white fruits. This aging method allows the wine to gain minerality. In the sense of a saline sensation when tasting which does not fail to whet the appetite.

DOMAIN

Montirius, a 58 hectare estate has been converted to organic dynamism since 1996, in the AOC Vacqueyras, AOC Gigondas and AOC Côtes du Rhône appellations. Since 1999, all the wines have been made from grapes grown organically and biodynamically, with the Domaine becoming the first vineyard certified in Biodynamic farming in the Vacqueyras and Gigondas appellations. Montirius is thus located in the heart of the Dentelles de Montmirail, under the gaze of Mont Ventoux. If you are lucky enough to go to Montirius, you will notice that the place exudes an air of sweet southern tranquility.

Montirius is the contraction of the first names of the 3 children of Christine & Eric Saurel: MON (Manon) + TI (Justine) + RIUS (Marius). It has been a family estate for 5 generations, located in the south of the Rhône Valley in the AOC Vacqueyras Gigondas appellations. In 1980, Max Saurel, Eric's father, stopped using chemical fertilizers, already sensing their negative effects on soil and people. Eric, who has been working on the estate for 26 years, is constantly seeking the right balance to obtain great local wines. He converted the estate to Bio-Dynamic cultivation in 1996 before building his new cellar in 2002.
