This purple-colored wine exalts aromas of blackcurrant and redcurrant on the nose. Its attack is frank and elegant and contributes to its incredible freshness. On the palate, its tannins are remarkably supple and velvety, and leave a finish with a note of blackcurrant with honest persistence. It is a well-balanced wine, which goes wonderfully with poultry glazed in carrot juice and fine carrot and pea puree.
DOMAIN
Created in 1970 by Jean-Jacques Mélinand, Domaine des Marrans is now managed by the second generation: Mathieu since 2009 and his brother Camille joined him in 2019, creating a new dynamic. The estate is located in Fleurie, 50km north of Lyon, in the heart of the Beaujolais crus.
The vineyard is planted with respect for traditions, favoring a high planting density (9,000 to 10,000 vines/ha) in order to have competition between each vine.
Our plots are managed as naturally as possible, without chemical fertilizers. In spring, we favor surface tillage as well as treatments based on copper and sulfur. The vineyard is now converting to organic farming, with certification for the 2024 vintage.
The majority of work is carried out manually (lifting, shearing, winch work, etc.). Once fully ripe , the grapes are made by hand with very selective sorting. respecting the integrity of the grapes.
In the search for wines of great finesse, the vinifications are traditional, in whole clusters and without the addition of exogenous yeasts or sulfur for a better expression of our terroirs. The so-called “carbonic” maceration (from 8 to 20 days depending on the vintages) is punctuated by a few pumping overs for gentle extraction and always dictated by daily tastings.
