The Les Pommiers 2018 vintage is the new vintage produced by Philippe Lancelot!
It is a vintage which comes from a mass selection of Meuniers, planted by Philippe's grandfather and father in 1968. This place called "Les Pommiers" of 22.77 ares overlooks the town of Epernay with a rising sun, a perfect exposure for this delicate grape variety.
This vintage was harvested at optimal maturity, vinified in vats and oak barrels, with very little sulfur and very lightly dosed to preserve the natural balance of the wine.
It is a cuvée which reveals aromas of quince, hay, brioche, redcurrant and peach.
Philippe Lancelot fervently took over the Y. Lancelot Wanner estate, owned by his parents launched in the 1970s. He joined them in 2004, before taking the reins in 2007. The estate, located mainly in Cramant, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs is also made up of plots in Avize, Chouilly, Oiry, Epernay and Ay. This native of Champagne, wanting to become a sommelier since his adolescence, left to learn his skills in New Zealand.
Now at the head of four hectares, the winemaker produces very high quality champagnes, with the idea of best illustrating the quintessence of each terroir. He seeks to bring out the unique DNA of each vintage, intervening sparingly in the vinification of the juices. The vineyard has been in biodynamic cultivation since 2012. Philippe Lancelot likes to create his labels according to his imagination and his very interpretation of the wine before its release. Its vintages, designed for aging, are very lightly dosed, if at all.
All the vintages currently marketed contain tiny or no doses of sulfur. Bottles from this estate are relatively rare, and the entire production represents only 20,000 bottles.
