This vintage, called "Tradition" before, became "Latitude" in the 1970s to better characterize this well-rounded vintage with a rich and charming style composed exclusively of Chardonnays always coming from the same "latitude": the south of Vertus. This terroir is generous and produces a festive champagne par excellence while maintaining the characteristic purity of the estate's champagnes. Non-vintage, this vintage contains 40% wines from the perpetual reserve started in 2004.

Alcoholic fermentation is natural thanks to native yeasts. This Champagne wine is without frills or artifice, with very little sugar, for more pleasure. Righteousness and liveliness, airy with a beautiful breadth, it offers a superb balance.

DOMAIN

The domain Larmandier-Bernier is located on the Côte des Blancs terroirs, in the heart of the Champagne vineyards.

Since the 19th century, the Larmandier family has been working the vines on the premiers and grands crus of the Côte des Blancs. Chalk is the keystone of these great terroirs. Indeed, among the different production areas of the Champagne appellation, only the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs are on Campanian chalk at the origin of the beautiful minerality of Larmandier-Bernier champagnes.

The estate is looking for wines that express their terroir, without artifice, convinced that the creation of a great Champagne, like all great wines, begins in the vineyard. It is the grape which carries within itself all the qualities and authenticity that no man could invent.

Larmandier-Bernier is lucky to work on very beautiful terroirs, it would be a shame not to “carry them into your glass”. Thus, the estate has not chosen the ease of current methods, but the much more rewarding path of intelligent vine cultivation.

This choice to trust in nature was made very early, well before current awareness. Initially, it was Pierre's very strong desire to make great wines and Sophie's lifestyle (respect for the environment and healthy food) which resonated together as an obvious fact: the couple then committed themselves to this path, the opposite of the Champagne practices of the time.
