The nose offers pretty black fruits and notes of vanilla. On the palate, the wine is structured, smooth and satiny. The notes of flowers and licorice linger in the finish. Very elegant.
The 2019 vintage is full of contrasts. A mild winter, a cool spring and a scorching summer. Some precipitation helped prevent dehydration of the vines. A promising vintage!
Baron Philippe de Rothschild acquired this vintage in 1933. Neighboring the famous Château Mouton Rothschild, it had belonged since the 17th century to the Armailhacq family, whose name it then bore: Château Mouton d'Armailhacq. From 1956, it was successively called Château Mouton Baron Philippe, then, in 1975, Château Mouton Baronne Philippe. Since 1989, Baroness Philippine de Rothschild has partly restored its original identity by naming it Château d'Armailhac.
