Château Clarke bears the name of the Irish family who purchased this vast estate in 1771. After more than two centuries of wine-making tradition and successive inheritances, the property was acquired by Baron Edmond de Rothschild in 1973. Passionate about wine at the Like his illustrious family, Edmond de Rothschild dreamed of owning an intimate, discreet vineyard which he would make his masterpiece. With a strong passion for the art of living and excellence, he made Château Clarke the icon of its appellation. The proximity of the Atlantic Ocean brings a freshness to the terroir which is reflected in the aromatic brilliance of the wine. A terroir which proves very conducive to the cultivation of the Merlot grape variety, in a region more traditionally known for the production of Cabernet Sauvignon. Château Clarke thus has a completely original Médoc character.
