Margaux 2001 Red - Château Cantenac Brown
Producer:
Chateau Cantenac Brown
Region: Bordeaux
Grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc
Red color
Vintage: 2001
Quantity: 75cl

Deep red color with purplish reflections. A strong aromatic intensity and a nose dominated by grilled and roasted aromas (coffee, cocoa) from the barrel. Agitation reveals spicy and floral notes (iris) as well as ripe fruit (raspberry and blackberry).
The bouquet is enriched with aeration with notes of tobacco and leather.
The attack on the palate is ample, revealing the richness of the wine. A dense but silky tannin structure and a tight structure.
Very long finish with a strong retro olfaction, slightly dominated by the wood which is just waiting to blend.

DOMAIN

Commanded by an imposing neo-Tudor style castle built in the 19th century. by the Scottish animal painter John Lewis Brown, this 48 ha estate planted on beautiful gravel in the heart of the appellation, experienced a second youth first thanks to the Axa group, and, since 2006, under the impetus of the Halabi family, who entrusted its management to José Sanfins.

The beautiful and imposing Margalese property produces wines of good quality with great regularity, worthy of its classification. Its dynamic director, José Sanfins, trained at the Cazes and Axa Millésime schools, knows how to make wines that are charming, but also deep and delicious (like the Alto white, produced in small quantities). A new owner, the Le Lous family, has even higher ambitions. 10 additional hectares were acquired in 2020 and major work to modernize the production tool is planned. The vintage does not rest on its laurels!
