The ambition of this vintage is to restore as sincerely as possible the specific character of the wines produced on the Béru hill. It is an assembly of the different plots of the estate, the common points of which are primarily the altitude, the northern location in the Chablis vineyards and the strong presence of Kimmeridgian limestone in the soils.
Long aging on fine lees in vats and tuns further accentuates the purity of the expression of the place; balance, subtle flesh of white fruits stand out as organoleptic constants.
DOMAIN
From the 12th century, Cistercian monks recognized the grandeur of the Clos Béru terroir and cultivated vines there. Today it is Athénais de Béru, whose family has owned the Clos for over 400 years, who is in charge of perpetuating the legacy and taking care of this wine heritage. And she, we can say, woke up the sleeping beauty. Now run entirely organically and then biodynamically since its arrival in 2005, the estate now has 15 hectares where everything is done with respect for living things, including vinification without inputs and sometimes even without sulfur. In recent vintages, the wines achieve stunning clarity and accuracy of expression, while bringing out the beauty of this great historic terroir. For me, they are now part of the small elite of Chablis.
