Krug Grande Cuvée is the product of one man, Joseph Krug, who dreamed of making the best Champagne possible every year, regardless of weather conditions. Since 1843, Maison Krug has paid tribute to this approach with each new Edition of Krug Grande Cuvée: the most generous expression of Champagne.
A stay of around seven years in our cellars gives it its very particular expression and elegance.
In total, more than 20 years of meticulous work were necessary to appreciate this Edition of Krug Grande Cuvée, which represents the 171st recreation of the most generous expression of Champagne.
Fortunately, the rains in the second half of August allowed the fruits to develop and, with the good sunshine and reasonable temperatures, ensured ripening in good conditions.
The harvest took place between August 31 and September 21, in the rain, with great heterogeneity from one plot to another.
To create this Edition of Krug Grande Cuvée, the Cellar Master wanted to accentuate the diversity of this year's delicate aromatic expressions thanks to reserve wines from several plots and 11 different years.
The particular attention paid to the vines, as well as the exceptional respect for the characteristics of each plot, have favored the amplitude of expression specific to this Edition of Krug Grande Cuvée.
In total, the reserve wines from the House's immense wine library represent 42% of the final blend and ensure the amplitude and roundness essential to each Edition of Krug Grande Cuvée.

The House was founded in 1843 by Joseph Krug, a visionary, non-conformist man with an uncompromising philosophy. His dream was to create the best Champagne possible every year, regardless of annual climatic variations. Joseph Krug managed to realize his dream by paying close attention to the character of the vineyard, respecting the individuality of each plot and its wine, and building a vast library of reserve wines from different years.
With a traditional approach to making Champagne, he decided to go beyond the very notion of vintage in order to create, each year, the most generous expression of Champagne. He thus founded a House where all the Champagnes would be of the same level of distinction.
Since then, six generations of the Krug family have pursued this dream, enriching the vision and know-how of the founder of the House.
