From 50 year old vines. This plot is located just at the top of the hill of the 1er Cru “Les Pruliers”. Here, there is only a thin layer of soil, then a terroir of pure stone. A more robust expression of Pinot Noir.
The fruits are harvested manually and sorted. 100% untracked. Two weeks of fermentation, then aging in used 228 liter barrels for 18 to 20 months. Bottled unfiltered and minimal SO2 added.
Following a separation from his brothers, Bertrand Machard de Gramont created his estate in 1983. He replanted the spectacular terraces of Vallerots, a very steep terraced hillside on the heights of Nuits-Saint-Georges. It is in this appellation that the majority of the vines of this small estate are found. After another life, Bertrand's daughter, Axelle, returned to the estate in 2004. She initiated the organic transition (certified in 2014) and gentle work, such as foot crushing in truncated wooden vats after destemming. . The choices of this energetic young woman are paying off and the wines deliver dense and unvarnished expressions of their respective terroirs.
