Hanami is a "spring wine," best enjoyed in its early years to fully enjoy its fruity, juicy character. Produced from several plots of Cabernet Franc vines, this is a wine that exudes youthful energy and fluidity. The texture is silky, the aromas generous, and the structure rather light, yet the expression of the terroir is clearly evident!
DOMAIN
The Bobinet estate has existed since 2002, when Sébastien Bobinet took over the vines (1.8 ha), as well as the cellar from his maternal grandparents. He is the 7th generation of a family of winegrowers from Dampierre-sur-Loire (associated commune of Saumur). The choice of organic farming was quickly established, as well as "natural" vinification, that is to say without chemical input during the winemaking process, notably under the influence of Olivier Cousin, a winegrower in Anjou. Sébastien cultivates 1.5 ha of Cabernet Franc and 0.30 ha of Chenin, harvests the raisins by hand, then vinifies and ages his wines in the tuffeau cellar dug into the Saumur hillside. These wines are then the Amatéus Bobi and Echalier cuvées. In 2007, interested in carbonic maceration, he met Bernard Pontonnier who helped him better understand this winemaking method, the latter having himself learned from Jules Chauvet, Marcel Lapierre, Jean Foillard and many others, when he was a bistro owner in Paris. He was also one of the first to promote natural wine. With the grapes from a small private plot, Sébastien and Bernard together developed the Greta Carbo cuvée. Then came the time to grow and diversify: Sébastien took 2 hours of Cabernet Franc in 2010 and decided to vinify the Pineau d'Aunis, Gamay and Côt grapes to experiment with other grape varieties. Trouble in Beaulieu was born! In 2011, he was joined by his partner Emeline Calvez, a trained sommelier. Together, they created the Ruben cuvée, the number one new plot acquired in 2010. Their collaboration gave new scope to the estate, which continued to grow and assert itself, with a constant focus on maintaining a sustainable and ethical business. The Hanami and Piak! cuvées then appeared. In 2015, the two acquired a building, which they completely renovated to create a proper storage facility, offices, and a tasting and sales area.
