Ainda stands out as a wine resulting from the blending of 40 different grape varieties, from old vines and grape purchases. Ainda, meaning "always" or "quiet", reveals aromas of sweet berries, accompanied by subtle floral notes of cherry. Its purity, liveliness and marked intensity are manifested through pronounced flavors of cherries and berries. Thus, it is characterized by a fairly robust body, highlighting the richness of the fruits that compose it.
DOMAIN
António Madeira, a French winemaker of Portuguese origin, made the decision in 2010 to return to the land of his ancestors, the Serra da Estrela. This sub-region of Dão was once recognized as one of the most prestigious terroirs for vines, producing what was called the "Grands Crus of the Dão highlands". It is at the foot of these mountains, the highest in Portugal, that António carefully identified plots of old planted vines, distinguished by the typicity of the grape varieties, the quality of the granite soil and an ideal exposure.
The philosophy of the estate is guided by a fundamental principle: respect for the soil, the plant and the fruit, with the aim of focusing on the essential, namely the authentic expression of the Serra da Estrela terroir. To achieve this objective, António Madeira banned the use of any pesticides, preferring to work his soil with horses. This philosophy naturally extends to the cellars, with the use of native yeasts and fermentations in open vats.
