The aromatic expression is elegant and fruity. It is a wine combining power and balance, perfectly expressing the exceptional terroir of Compassant.
An exceptional terroir which benefits from a double exposure: on the plateau which dominates the right bank of the Dordogne and on the side of a south-facing hillside.
It is mainly composed of clay-limestone soil in varying proportions depending on the plots alternating with some areas of gravel.
On a 35 hectare property, 6 hectares of Merlot vines aged between 12 and 45 years are currently planted. A new plantation of 2.5 hectares in 2017 and 2018, including 75 hectares of Cabernet Franc, will be added to production from 2020.
