The Kiss of Alexandria 2017
Producer: Domaine Terre de L’Élu
Grape variety: 100% Grolleau gray
A hanging garden on the banks of the Nile, a kiss exchanged at the foot of the Alexandria Lighthouse, spices, terracotta, ocher, captivating perfumes... A tribute to our grandfather who passes from one millennium to the next with wisdom and enthusiasm!
Natural winemaking. Maceration in whole bunches in terracotta amphorae for 9 months before pressing and bottling without filtration.
The bouquet evokes Mediterranean scents: dry herbs, spices, citrus (orange). A powerful and balanced wine. Tannins present without being imposing, roundness without heaviness. Let yourself be surprised! With orange duck or chicken carry.
Charlotte and Thomas Carsin, a Breton graduate in marine biology who remained a wine consultant in Champagne and Provence for ten years, have been cultivating, since 2008, 25 hectares of vines on very beautiful terroirs in the surroundings of Saint-Aubin-de-Luigné. Manual harvesting, plowing, organic cultivation (certified in 2013), then native yeasts in the cellar and whole-cluster vinification produce a splendid range of accomplished, tasty and energetic wines, whose titles invite you to travel. The great vintages Magellan (Cabernet Franc) and Ephata (Chenin) show the way forward for the new generation of Angevin winegrowers, who seek to better promote their terroirs and their wines. Tired of certain obligations of the AOC Anjou specifications, the couple decided to reclassify their production under the more permissive wine of France denomination.
