This is one of the last vintages of Dominique Belluard bottled by Vincent Ruiz who took over Domaine Belluard and transformed it into Domaine Gringet with a lot of passion and talent too.
From old Gringet vines planted in the '70s and '80s on plots of limestone dazzled at a place called "Vers-Etraz". Direct pressing, vinification and aging in ovoid concrete vats and stainless steel vats, aging for 36 months on slats, zero dosage.On the nose, the wine brings us very sophisticated aromatics between notes of white flowers, roasted hazelnut, touches of fresh herbs and tangerine peel. The bouquet is revealed with precision And elegance as with the entire range of Dominique Belluard wines.
The taste is remarkable, the bubbles are fine, the substance is dense and creamy. The mineral expression from the Ayse region stimulates the taste buds and provides persistence in the mouth. We find beautiful citrus notes and also touches of pear, Mirabelle plum or even a hint of dried apricots.
The Gringet estate (formerly Dominique Belluard) is a small estate located in the Ayse vineyard in the heart of the Arve valley, between Chamonix and Geneva. This is a historic vineyard in the Savoy region. since we find writings dating from the 11th century. Dominique Belluard saw his family settle in the 1940s. At that time, mixed farming was dominant and the 10 hectares of land were planted with various fruit trees.
Today, it is the vine that dominates the landscape but winegrowers who produce quality are still far too rare. It is thanks to winegrowers like Dominique Belluard, Gilles Berlioz and Dominique Lucas that the Savoyard wine landscape is evolving in the right direction. They are looking for an authentic expression of the terroir that proves the great value and quality of their vineyard.
This involves an in-depth study of the soil, its diversity, the energies that emerge from it and many other aspects which have scientific but also spiritual value . Because before being winegrowers, they are lovers of their land, their only fight lies in its preservation.
Indeed, the Ayse terroir like many others in Savoie holds a treasure, the diversity of soils. Limestone, yellow marl and red clay can be found very easily a few meters away. It is this incredible geological complexity that gives such deep and luminous wines .
But we find at the Gringet estate a singularity that we find nowhere else, namely the Gringet grape variety . which remains the dominant production. They also own half of the 20 hectares planted in the appellation.
All the vines are cultivated biodynamically , respecting the cycle of life. It is this osmosis between the plant, the animal and the mineral that Dominique Belluard sought at all costs throughout his life.
The wines are impressively regular, they are both of great depth and of remarkable vitalizing energy .
Today, it is time for the domain to be taken over by the young and talented Vincent Ruiz, who trained with Franck Balthazar. The vintages from Domaine du Gringet are in line with the style of Dominique Belluard.
