Producer: SAS Anne and Jean-François Ganevat
Grape varieties: Gamay, Trousseau
From the trading of Anne and Jean-François Ganevat, this cuvée is a blend of old Gamay and trousseau.
Vinification fresh semi-carbonic maceration 12/14° in the old-fashioned way in frustoconical vats. Native yeasts, no added sulfur, naturally vinified, unfined, unfiltered.
The result of this Madelon is pure indulgence and full of fruit and purity: a simple and elegant wine, supple and delicious with a bright nose of red fruits.
This wine has a story. Its name pays homage to the Madelon, Madeleine Vivant née Loisy, one of her neighbors in Rotalier, a true force of nature capable of pulling a calf out of the belly of its parent with one hand. She sadly died at the end of November 2019 at the age of 86. This wine was Madelon's favorite because it reminded her of the wines of her youth. JF Ganevat named this wine simply “Madelon”. A little more natural than the other wines, slight animal touch (without bretts), the charm of rusticity. A trip back in time when the estate was only 1.5 ha in the 1950s.
Jean-François Ganevat embodies the 14th generation of winegrowers from this family from Rotalier, south of the Jura. The man was cellar master at Jean-Marc Morey in Chassagne-Montrachet before taking over the family business in 1998. The estate converted to Organic Culture the same year then to Biodynamic Culture in 2006. he practices plot selections: one soil, one grape variety = one vintage. The result is that the estate produces 45 vintages per year, but don't panic, everything is good, no... extraordinary. He is the reference for a whole generation of young winegrowers. This estate constitutes one of the major revelations of recent years among Jura wines and its rare production is very popular with enthusiasts.
