Sainte-Foy Côtes de Bordeaux Séquoia 2019
Producer: Château Carbonneau
Grape varieties: 71% Cabernet Franc, 25% Merlot, 4% Malbec
The magnificent 40-meter Sequoia overlooking the castle and its glass roof gave birth to this cuvée, the symbol of an imposing and refined wine... After fermentation for 15 days and vatting for 20 days, the wine spends 10 months in barrels French. Deep red in color, the nose is dominated by black fruits, leather and spices (cloves). The palate is full and elegant with well-blended tannins. The discreet woodiness delicately supports the black fruits on the palate. It is an accomplished wine that will pair perfectly with grilled meats, Asian dishes and cheeses.
With vines up to 45 years old, the Carbonneau vineyard is located on an exceptional terroir in the Sainte-Foy Côtes de Bordeaux appellation. The vineyard has existed since the end of the 19th century, it is located in the east of the Gironde department, straddling the communes of Pessac-sur-Dordogne and Gensac, 25 minutes east of Saint-Emilion. With Merlot in red and Sauvignon in white as the main grape varieties, the Carbonneau vineyard is fairly representative of what we find on the right bank of Bordeaux. The clay-limestone soils of the property allow the Cabernet Franc to flourish and provide us each year with an excellent blending base for the Merlot, both in terms of its structure in the mouth and its spicy aromas... And Below, on more fertile soils, around twenty Blonde d'Aquitaine cows share almost 30 ha of meadows. This allows you to benefit from fertilization based on manure, entirely natural and produced on the property.
