THE DOMAIN

21 hectares of ancient land, an old chapel from the 12th century, a vineyard on the banks of the Dordogne. You have entered the lands of Château de la Vieille Chapelle .

It was once the Notre-Dame chapel, the Catholic and cultural center of the parish of Ile du Carney, as well as the site of bloody battles between the king of Burgundy and the pagans of the north….

Benedictine priests continued to live there until the French Revolution. The last of them was Father Anthony Tesseydre, born in Auvergne around 1724, nicknamed “the priest of Carney Island”.

Historically, this chapel was not only a religious center, it also hosted boatmen who transported barrels across the Dordogne, with the wines then shipped around the world.

Frédéric and Fabienne Mallier acquired the Château de la Vieille Chapelle in June 2006.

The estate consists of 21 hectares along the Dordogne river in a beautiful environment. The name comes from an old Roman chapel from the 12th century.

Located in the Canton of Fronsac, Château de la Vieille Chapelle produces on 9 hectares between 35 and 45,000 bottles per year of AOC Bordeaux, AOC Bordeaux Supérieur, Vin de France, Whites, Rosés and Reds.

Since 2006, numerous medals and press releases have been awarded to wines: “Guide Hachette”, “Bettane & Desseauve”, “Int London Wine & Spirit”, “Los Angeles Wine Competition”, “Concours de Bordeaux”…

In 2008, the conversion to organic wines was launched, with official certification in 2013 (Bio / Ecocert)

Demeter certification was obtained in 2017 (Biodynamic).
