This Barolo is a single varietal Nebbiolo from the Mascarello estate, founded in 1881. The vineyard is located in the village of Castiglione Falletto. The manual harvest is carried out in mid-October.During the summer the clusters are thinned out. Regarding winemaking, the grapes ferment in the traditional way for 20/25 days. The wine is aged in medium-sized Slavonic oak barrels for approximately 30 months. Bottling is therefore carried out 6 years after the vintage.
When tasting, the wine reveals a beautiful garnet color with orange highlights. The nose is complex, fruity, elegant, spicy and floral. In the mouth the body has a nice power. Intense and voluminous, the wine remains on the palate with excellent length. Its aging potential is around 15-25 years. Serve it at 16-18°C, accompanied by dishes of character such as hare à la royale or beef bourguignon for example. A pure marvel in short!
Wine producers for more than 150 years, first as sharecroppers, the Mascarello family bought their first vines in Monprivato, one of the exceptional terroirs of Barolo, in 1904. Today, it is Mauro Mascarello , helped by his wife and his son Guiseppe, who took charge of these 15 hectares, divided into several plots. The estate practices viticulture that is extremely respectful of its terroirs since it prohibits chemical weedkillers and drastically limits phytosanitary treatments. Wines which have repeatedly demonstrated their finesse as well as their great aging capacity, with the 6 hectares of the famous "Monprivato" (virtually a monopoly of the house) as their standard bearer. Giuseppe Mascarello is a family winery having been founded in 1881. It has the reputation of being one of the largest producers ofBarolo and more generally to be one of the best estates in the world.
