Jean-Baptiste Gougis is a special case in the Auvergne vineyard. This young man who defines himself as an “artist winemaker” has two passions in his life: the vine and the profession of songwriter. With his guitar and under the stage name Vent d'Ange, he performs in places as different as the Nuits de Saint-Jacques festival, in Puy-en-Velay, or at the Bistrot du Sommelier, in Paris, at Philippe's place. Faure-Brac.
He knows how to make these two professions coexist harmoniously. The vine is his muse and inspires songs like the one about vines in winter or his favorite title, “Je bois du vent”…
It's no surprise if this poet-winemaker doesn't approach the vineyard like his colleagues. After growing up in Clermont-Ferrand, he studied oenology before working under the guidance of Pierre Morey, then manager of Domaine Leflaive, in Meursault. He continued his career in New Zealand. This volcanic land fascinated him and, upon returning to France, he decided to make wine on a volcanic terroir. The region where he grew up naturally stood out.
